It’s happening, MotoGP street bike. That price though... I hope I see one some day and they don’t all collect dust.
Take that Kawasaki. Can’t wait to see them compared against each other.

It’s probably similar to what a real race bike costs. A top level racing Miata costs $125k

They’re reporting only 157 Hp stock, but you can buy an extra “sport kit” that bumps it to 203 Hp...... for a $184,000 starting price tag, I would of expected quite a
bit
LOT more insanity.... even 203 hp seems pretty weak for that price....... (and while I’m 100% sure it’ll be a sick-bird— Duc and BWM offer pretty much the same power for $160,000 less!)

This is not a bike about power though, that’s the H2R’s thing. The suspension, chassis, and electronics are MotoGP grade. It will lose to the Kawi in a drag race but I’m sure it will eat it alive on a track.

A Race-Replica not about power?? Um... okay... while I grant you that ridebility is king, obviously a large percentage of want for this bike will be fueled by it being some sort of beast. And 157-203 hp is run of the mill these days... And suspension? It’s just running Ohlins... the nicest of nicest of Ohlins certainly isn’t bringing that price tag up to those levels.... Ducati’s RR from 2007 had 200hp, certainly didn’t skimp anywhere component-wise and it was “only” $70K..... Like I said, I’m sure it’ll be a rad bike, but $184K is the most crack-pipe price I’ve ever seen for a bike.... like I said, BWM and Duc will sell you bike with 200hp, epic suspension and top-notch electronics for $160,000 less.

Top-notch electronics? Sure, for the average rider maybe. To outfit a bike with just the top-end Magneti Marelli traction control system nowadays is $25k+.

This bike will basically never be ridden on a track in anger by anyone but a motojournalist or a Honda test rider. Let’s look at the cross section of people who can afford this. Okay. Narrow that down to people who care about bikes. Done. Now narrow that down to those that have the skill to ride it at any pace resembling fast. Hey, look at that, nobody left!
So it’s another rich guy’s ass jewelry. Oooh so cool.
Add that to the fact that you have to BUY the Sports Kit to get it up the performance it’s supposed to have? C’mon son. This shit is lame. And this is coming from a Honda superbike rider, who thinks his bike is the best thing since pussy.
Maybe it’s a prelude to Honda releasing a reasonably priced V4 superbike? Or maybe an updated CBR1000RR?
I’m not angry Honda, just disappointed. LOL.

I’d imagine that honda uses an in-house system, quite a bit less expensive than top-shelf retail-priced Italian electronics, but for the sake of arguement, lets say the electronics are $30K and you get them for free..... $154,000 is still sooooo crack pipe... But this honda does weight more than a bmw or duc, so maybe that’s why it’s $150,000 more expensive.... It’s a nice bike, I’m sure, but crrrrraaaaaacccccckkkkkk pipe!

While I only brought up the traction control, my point was that EVERYTHING on this bike is as good as it gets. Obviously no motorcycle is actually worth spending $184k on but the technology and materials used on this bike are super expensive. I can’t pick apart everything on the bike and tell you what it cost, but the forks by themselves are $13k, I think the entire body is carbon, I’ve heard of full exhaust systems costing $18k.... It’s not like Honda marked this up to make a profit on it.

Let’s see:
New, leftover ZX-10r = $12k
Exhaust and Power Commander: $1,500
Race Bodywork + paint: $1k
Brake lines + pads + fluid: $300
Suspension: $3k
Tires: $500
And with that, you’ll have more bike than 99.99% of people that can ride will know what to do with on a track. For 1/10th the cost. You can cut it in half if you buy a used / crashed bike.

“EVERYTHING on the bike is as good as it gets”.... well, except for the motor....... Marquez’s bike has 230+ horsepower but the $184,000 race replica it’s “based” on has about as much HP as a stock CBR? But I’m sure the rest of the bike is really, really nice....
